  • Understand how to detox with a toxin flush
  • Discover what supplements best support your body s natural detoxification systems

Planet Earth has become increasingly toxic. More than 250 billion tonnes of chemical substances are produced every year.

Your body needs to work hard to get rid of every chemical you absorb, breathe, eat, or drink. Fortunately, it’s designed to naturally detox. Unfortunately, your system can get overwhelmed. And if it does, it starts storing the toxins in your tissues to dispose of later, or those toxins disrupt your metabolism.

This can lead to multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). In 2003, 12% of the U.S. population had MSC, and that number is on the rise. Symptoms include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Breathing problems
  • Confusion
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle pains
  • Rash
  • Asthma
  • Hyperactivity

Even if you don’t have MCS, you may have experienced some symptoms because of toxins in your food or environment. So, let’s learn about the most common toxins you are likely to encounter, what a toxin flush is, and how to flush them from your system as part of a detoxification program.

What are the most common toxins?

Toxins are everywhere: in the food you eat and the air you breathe. But what are the most common ones, and how do they affect your health?

Heavy metals

The world is full of heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and arsenic, and you probably encounter them every day. They only become problematic when they build up in your body when you eat contaminated food or inhale noxious fumes. The most common ways of getting heavy metal poisoning are to eat mercury-containing fish, breathe in lead paint, or drink water that contains any of them.

Heavy metals accumulate in your cells where they may interfere with metabolic processes. Mercury is the most toxic heavy metal, and mercury poisoning can cause brain and kidney damage and pose a danger to babies in the womb.

Pesticides

Many farmers use pesticides to prevent insects and other so-called pests from eating their crops. The problem is that they contaminate the air and waterways, posing a grave danger to human health. You are likely to come in contact with these toxins if you can’t clean them off your fruits and vegetables or if you breathe in polluted air.

Even worse, when chemicals are mixed to make the pesticide formulations farmers buy, they become even more toxic than their active ingredients. Pesticides can damage your liver and kidneys. Avoid them by buying organic wherever possible and washing your fruit and vegetables before eating.

Potassium bromate

Despite being banned in many countries, potassium bromate is still frequently used as a food additive in the U.S. and other places. It’s considered a carcinogen and is particularly toxic to your kidneys that you’re most likely to encounter it in processed bread. To protect your health, avoid poor quality bread and practice regular detoxification.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

You can produce polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs, by cooking red meat in certain ways. When you grill or smoke the meat at high temperatures, toxic PAHs form in your food. Then, when you eat this food, the toxins can cause colon and kidney cancer, as well as many other types of cancer.

The best way to avoid PAHs in your diet is to avoid red meat altogether. But if you must eat it, cook it at lower temperatures, and don’t allow hot fat to drip on the meat.

Refined oils

Refined sunflower, corn, and other oils are bad for your health. These processed oils are linked to weight gain and obesity and contribute to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other health problems. What’s more, when these oils are heated, they contribute to indoor air pollution and have been linked to lung cancer

Trans fats

Trans fats are the worst fats you can eat for your health. They are linked to inflammation and cardiac problems. Trans fats are hard to avoid if you eat a lot of junk or restaurant food as they are found in many processed foods, including baked goods and margarine. With a little research, avoiding them is easy. Stay away from anything with partially hydrogenated oil on the ingredients list and avoid fried food when dining out.

Bisphenol-A (BPA)

BPA is a toxic chemical that leaches from certain plastic containers into the food and drinks you consume. It is particularly toxic to children’s health, even in the womb. In the U.S., the FDA states that BPAs are safe in low levels, but the fact that BPAs can cause toxicity is gaining ground, and there are more and more BPA-free products around.

You need to be careful, though. In some cases, BPA has simply been replaced with BPS, or bisphenol-S. This compound behaves similarly to BPA in your body. The best way to avoid toxicity is to reduce the amount of plastic packaging you use and avoid microwaving or reusing plastic food containers.

Fluoride

Fluoride is highly toxic, which is why it is often used in pesticides. You also encounter it in dental products and even your drinking water or salt. Even though fluoride is considered safe in small quantities, evidence suggests it may be toxic. It has been linked to gastrointestinal effects, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other health disorders.

You can help your body stay in good overall health by purifying the water you drink if you are in the U.S. Avoid excessive amounts of fluoridated salt if you are in Mexico.

Chlorine

Chlorine is used to kill pathogens in drinking water and to keep swimming pools clean. However, while very effective at removing bacteria and viruses, chlorine is also toxic in its own right. As it disinfects, chlorine forms by-products that target your liver and lungs. If you clean with products containing chlorine, make sure the area is well-ventilated. If possible, purify your drinking water and choose saltwater swimming pools over-chlorinated ones.

Electromagnetic fields

Otherwise known as EMFs, electromagnetic fields occur whenever electricity flows. They do appear naturally, but as computers and cellphones have become more commonplace in our lives, so have EMFs. This is bad news because they can harm your antioxidant defense system, potentially leading to oxidative stress in your cells. Though more research is needed, scientists are beginning to realize that we should be thinking about protecting ourselves against EMFs.

To do this, disable the WI FI function on your computer or device and use an ethernet cable where possible. Stay away from wireless baby monitors and keep your cell phone on airplane mode as you sleep.

So, what exactly is a toxin flush?

A toxin flush involves helping your body remove harmful material that has built-up (or may be building up).

There are a couple of ways to do a toxin flush:

1.      You can cleanse your colon, which will clear away waste buildup that creates a toxic buildup in your digestive tract. This approach allows your body – specifically your liver – to focus on removing excess protein from the blood, which can be harmful, and toxins at the cellular level.2.      You start by cleansing the colon and follow with a plan that supplies your body with essential nutrients and antioxidants your body can use to remove toxins from your blood and cells.

The reality is, avoiding all environmental toxins is impossible to do. There’s simply no point in getting stressed about it. Here’s what you should know about toxin flushes:

  • Detoxification needn’t be invasive. It involves supporting your body’s natural detox processes.
  • If you do a colon cleanse, you will release toxins and waste into the colon. It’s crucial that every colon cleanse includes some amount of detoxifying nutrients.
  • Any weight loss program should also include a toxin flush. Your body tends to store toxins in fat, and they get released into your body as you lose weight. For the best weight loss results, you need to ensure you eliminate these as you lose weight.

For the best results, especially in our modern world, do regular toxin flushes to keep your liver, kidneys, and digestive system in the best possible overall health.

How to do a toxin flush

Thankfully, your body is well designed for detoxification. It produces an abundance of antioxidants for the job. Dietary vitamin C and vitamin E also plays a key role in your detox.

Despite there being reams of information on the internet telling you to engage in expensive detox treatments, you don’t need to spend tons of money on detoxifying your system. Here are a few simple ways you can support your natural detox mechanisms.

Drink water

Water is the simplest thing in the world, and you’re probably not getting enough of it. More than half of Americans admit they are too busy or simply forget to drink enough. Since your body is two-thirds water, dehydration causes big problems, including weight gain, organ damage, and toxic accumulation. Aim to drink around ten glasses a day, more if you sweat a lot.

Use lemon

Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant. While the jury is out on whether drinking lemon juice can really aid your body as a detox, there is no doubt staying hydrated does. So, if you like the taste of lemons and you think a squeeze of lemon juice will help you drink enough water daily, get out the lemons and squeeze away.

Use ginger

You may have heard that ginger, especially when paired with lemon juice, is good for detoxifying your system. More evidence is needed until we know for sure, but studies have shown that ginger can aid weight loss. As with lemon, ginger makes water taste good. So if you love the taste of this spicy root and adding it to your drinks helps you consume more water, go for it.

Cook with garlic

Garlic has been used as medicine for millennia. Packed with organo-sulfur compounds, garlic boosts detoxification enzymes in your system, helping your body eliminate toxins. Eat it raw or cooked, and avoid shiny-looking Chinese garlic that may be full of chemicals and other toxins.

Use milk thistle

Milk thistle extract protects your liver, preserving it against free radicals and perhaps reducing inflammation. As a supplement, milk thistle is generally safe, though pregnant women should avoid it.

Practice fasting

Fasting may sound like a scary word, but it needn’t be. Intermittent fasting is the practice of eating all meals within a set time window. For example, you could limit the times you eat to eight or twelve hours during the day, with no snacking outside of those times. When you get hungry, your body runs out of fuel and starts burning fat. Furthermore, fasting helps your body produce detoxifying enzymes that protect your liver.

Choose antioxidants

Antioxidant-rich foods protect your body from the harmful free radicals in pollution and toxic foods. Add colorful foods such as blueberries, dark chocolate, red cabbage, spinach, and beets to your daily diet for the best effects.

Add probiotic foods to your diet

Foods like miso, tempeh, and fresh sauerkraut protect your digestive tract by adding beneficial bacteria to your gut. These “probiotic” bacteria help make the nutrients in your food more available, supporting your body’s natural detox and keeping you safe from contraceptive pills and antibiotics.

If foods like these do not appeal to you or may be difficult to get, try a probiotic supplement like Flora Infused.

Eat enzyme-rich foods

Enzymes play an essential role in every chemical reaction in your body. Digestive enzymes break down your food to ensure maximum nutrient absorption. Metabolic enzymes break down proteins, which can help cleanse the colon and digestive tract, as well as cleanse the blood. Protein molecules represent the number one toxic product in the bloodstream.

Look for foods like pineapple, papaya, and natto for protein-digesting enzymes. Eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables also supplies a wide variety of enzymes, but just be careful…you have to eat them raw. Cooking destroys enzymes.

You can also supplement with digestive enzymes like those in Digest Infused and metabolic enzymes like those in Metabolic Infused.

Take algae supplements

Algae like spirulina and chlorella are rich in nutrients and have powerful detoxification properties. Chlorella is especially helpful in detoxing heavy metals, but you need cracked-cell chlorella for it to be effective. Its cell wall is too tough to digest, so it must be cracked for it to work.

The only way to take algae is in a supplement form. You can find powders, but many people find capsules like Algae Infused easier to take.

Give your body the power to detoxify

Toxins are everywhere, and it is impossible for you to avoid them completely. The simplest way to stay healthy is to find out where you most likely encounter environmental toxins and how you can aid your body’s natural detoxification system.

Follow some simple lifestyle practices, and eating a healthful diet is a good start. Colon cleansing regularly with a diet full of fiber, along with a gentle supplement like Cleanse Infused Plus, helps keep toxic material from building up in your colon. You can also take high-quality supplements with ingredients specifically combined to help your body naturally detox.
